I'm 52 and I started raving back in 1991, and I started DJing on Technics 1210's in 1994. After many years out of the raving scene (1996) and DJing (2001), I have found digital music and this is my renaissance! I am only using DDJ FLX 4's with Serarto and I'm 6 months in. Apart from Seraton anaylising my files, the beat grids are often wrong, so I use my ears, the old skool way! I do use the Sync button as it saves time, but that is the only function on the FLX I use to "enhance" my sets. I like the raw sound of mixing. You will never see me pressing 20 buttons or so in every mix to help it sound good or to make it work - you don't get that opportunity with decks, and it makes the set individual. My sets are not pre-planned or practiced.
